Am I the Right Therapist for You?

Let me help you out a little bit by telling you who I am as a counselor and how I approach therapy.

The most important thing to get out of the way is that I offer teletherapy only right now. I can counsel anyone in the state of Tennessee. So, if you're in Southaven or West Memphis, that's out of my jurisdiction according to the powers that be. Also, you must be 18 years or older. If you're looking for help for someone younger, I have some great referrals for to point you towards.
The types of clients that are most successful with me are those who are motivated for change and ready to do the work that comes with it. They understand that I don't have a magic button to push to make all their issues disappear and that real change takes time. They also appreciate the non-traditional therapeutic techniques that I bring to the process.

What is Therapy Like With Me?
Therapy with me is conversational, authentic, compassionate and empowering. I aim to create a space for you to be your true self and experience a whole range of emotions without judgment. Laughter is encouraged, cursing is allowed, crying is praised, and unfiltered honesty is positively reinforced. I won't flinch when you bring up your pain. We will touch on the past and face those things that hinder you in the present. I hope to shine some light on alternate ways to see your world and give you the tools to help you flourish as you work toward the life you want.

Experience
I started in the mental health field in 2011. Since then, I have worked with clients from all different walks of life, in every level of care, from acute hospitals to outpatient clinics. Over the years, I've gained special interest in working with anxiety, ADHD, depression, self-esteem and self-worth issues, life-transition issues, co-dependency, LGBTQIA+ issues, and trauma.

Approach to Therapy
My counseling approach is largely based on the client's individual needs. My style of therapy is grounded in person-centered, rational-emotive behavioral, and existential therapies. I am also trained in somatic attachment focused EMDR, which is used to address trauma. My focus is on holistic wellness, which means that I integrate some non-traditional forms of therapy as well, such as art therapy, music therapy, guided imagery meditation, mindfulness practices, and more experiential techniques to address all aspects of life.
